Write Proposal Introduction and Motivation


Directions:

  • Meet with your group to write the rough draft of the Introduction and Motivation sections of your group’s proposal. The outline is below, but refer to the proposal handouts with directions, a template and example proposal for guidance. You should have enough information from your research and reading Girls Like Us to write both of these sections.
  • The rough draft of both sections is due at the end of class. Be sure to include your group name and all names of group members.


  • Introduction (1 or 2 paragraphs)
    • o Motivation Sentence
    • o Summarize the problem (1 or 2 sentences)
    • o Summarize the solution (1 or 2 sentences)
    • o Describe format of rest of proposal (sections, etc.)
  • Motivation (2 to 3 paragraphs)
    • o What is the history of the problem?
    • o Why is this problem interesting?
    • o When and why does the problem occur?
    • o Is the problem already solved? What is done now?
    • o Are there any similar systems or solutions to the one you propose? If so, reference and very briefly explain them.
    • o Are there are possible improvements to current solutions?
